The National Network remain extremely concerned as more evidence surfaces that David Crisafulli is attempting to mislead women across the state by claiming he will not make changes to abortion laws.

Recent comments by Freya Ostapovitch, LNP candidate for Stretton, have blown the lid off the truth. Ostapovitch stated, “You vote for me, you trust me. I can’t say anything yet because we have to get elected before we do anything. I am on the record, I am pro-life.”

‘And there it is — the LNP’s real agenda to roll back abortion rights. While Crisafulli refuses to answer direct questions, his anti abortion candidates are revealing their true intentions to voters,’ said Debbie Kilroy.

‘Although David Crisafulli has repeatedly stated that “there will be no change” to abortion laws if the LNP is elected, his refusal to address his personal views, and those of his candidates, is telling. These same candidates are echoing the party line that reform has been “ruled out” and is “not part of our plans,” but their continued evasion raises serious doubts,’ said Debbie Kilroy. ‘It is clear the issue could be forced by minor conservative elements within the party — endangering hard fought for women’s rights,’ said Debbie Kilroy.

‘We cannot allow the LNP to drag us back to a time when women had no control over their own bodies. Any attempt to wind back abortion care poses a real and significant danger to the physical health and safety of women across Queensland, but more fundamentally, it threatens our right to bodily autonomy,’ said Debbie Kilroy.

‘We will not be fooled by Crisafulli’s empty promises. We stand firm in our resolve to protect the rights we have fought so hard to secure. This is a critical moment. The National Network urge every Queenslander to vote to safeguard the fundamental right of all people to make decisions about their own bodies. We must not allow the LNP to erode this essential human right,’ said Debbie Kilroy.
